v0.26, featuring a tutorial system!
heya, welcome to v0.26! its been a quick second in human history so it *totally isn’t that long
it took 3 months lmfao
prevented a resource leak which prevents 14 new thingys at once
updated reset dialog
made the text renderer faster by removing an unused function that it just has to wait through each time it tries to render everything. my benchmarks say like 1.4x faster or something.
backend: experiment with slow typing like undertale lol
FINALLY finalised backpack (except item counts, but if you have 0 of the item it wont show, so it still works)
replaced some sounds (todo)
internally made resetting the game significantly faster
massively optimized the credits svg designs as part of earth week
ADDED TUTORIAL SYSTEM YAYY
THING ENGINE CHANGES
ported to ThingEngine v1.5 (C-DNEXT branch, canary prerelease.)
Because its earth week, ThingEngine 1.5 is only like i think 4 kb (? idk who tf knows) heavier than the original engine
(also comes with internally optimized code for saving/loading in preparation for v0.27, but you cant access it lol)
KNOWN (minor) BUGS
motd sometimes behind for a few or so seconds before going toFront. mitigation would require 4 lines more of code and i JUST CANT LOSE THOSE BYTES.
motd can clip infront of tutorial text
post-credits make the panarama (how do i spell it) break
entering the achievements section can confuse the tutorial system, i have NO IDEA WHY
clicking on any of the “btn.lore” buttons in the achievements menu may softlock the game, im too lazy to make them not show
sometimes the tutorial may show when it isn’t supposed to, but hell’d if im fixing that
CRITICAL BUGS

BROWSER-SPECIFIC BUGS
the game may crash on firefox browsers? it didnt co-operate on my end the “forth wall break” wont detect on opera/gx, according to vaneer
on firefox, this game is laggier than usual…
TIPS:
listen to the tutorial-guy press shift and underscore (_) to reset the game

not very motivated to work on this game atm.
update 4/5/2023 – development has began again, next release probably after April 8
update 4/15/2023 – im dead inside. however, since 4/5/2023 the trello’s v0.26 release date was marked for (before/totally slightly after) march 1. so yeah
update 4/30/2023 – can we settle for 5/5/2023? if i dont deliver by that time then you can call me trans and i wont get mad at you. guarntee i dont dissapoint (this is like the sixth time i delayed this lmao) :)
update 5/4/2023 – im entering the final testing phase for this release, expect it to be released tommorow at 10:00 pm (UTC -04:00). but as long as i release it before 5/5/2023 ends (at my time) then im safe from your wrath etc etc
